片名中的“山”指的是宁夏，“?！敝傅氖歉＝?。电视剧讲述了宁夏西海固地区在国家扶贫政策引导和福建对口帮扶下，贫困群众移民搬迁，历经艰辛、克服万难，把“干沙滩”建成“金沙滩”的故事。在各大卫视和视频网站播出以来备受好评。
Minning Town, a 23-episode TV series based on the decades-long battle against poverty in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region, has quickly made a splash online since its broadcast on several satellite TV channels and streaming sites on Jan 12. Set in Xihaigu, the impoverished mountainous area in southern Ningxia, the tale chronicles locals' effort to get rid of poverty with assistance from the prosperous Fujian province from early 1990s to recent years.
其实《山海情》之所以还能打动如今的年轻人，是因为剧中为脱贫而奋斗的村民里，很多都是年轻人，这和以往的一些扶贫剧将扶贫干部的面孔进行模式化、固定化的表达不一样。
《山海情》的主演是出演过《芳华》和《妖猫传》的黄轩，他在剧中饰演在西海固成长起来的基层政府工作人员马德福。剧中还汇聚了不少大家耳熟能详的演员，比如张嘉益（饰 马喊水）、黄觉（饰 凌一农）、闫妮（饰 杨县长）、姚晨（饰 吴月娟）和热依扎（饰?李水花）等。
Actor Huang Xuan, known for the blockbusters Youth and Legend of the Demon Cat, portrays the lead role, a grassroots government official who grows up in a village in Xihaigu. The stellar cast also includes actors Zhang Jiayi and Huang Jue as well as actresses Yan Ni and Rayza Alimjan.

上世纪70年代，常年被干旱缺水问题困扰的西海固，曾被联合国打上了“最不适合人类居住”的标签。然而，经过一系列的搬迁和经济帮扶措施，这里从荒漠变为乐土，也是我国扶贫攻坚的一个缩影。

此外，这部土味剧还多次因“方言”冲上热搜！网友表示：美滴很！看完山海情已经不会讲普通话了……

不过你知道吗，比方言更难破解的是这部剧的官方英译名！
相信细心的小伙伴已经发现了，《山海情》的英译名是“Minning Town”。
可如果光看这个英译名，很难跟这部剧联系在一起：既没有“mountain”也没有“sea”，更没有体现“山”代指的“宁夏”或“海”代指的“福建”……
那么，为什么官方英文名是“Minning Town”呢？
根据豆瓣显示，这部剧还有另外一个中文名，那就是《闽宁镇》。

闽宁镇原是宁夏西海固的一个贫瘠山村，正是剧中故事发生地：涌泉村—金滩村—闽宁镇。
闽宁镇的名字，取自福建和宁夏两个省份的缩写，闽是福建，宁是宁夏。为了响应东西对口扶贫政策的号召，建设一个扶贫项目新地标，于是就用对口帮扶的两个省份命名这个城镇。

依托于福建帮扶宁夏计划，昔日的涌泉村变成了青山绿树的“塞上江南”，闽宁镇从飞沙走石的“干沙滩”成为了寸土寸金的“金沙滩”。
不过，看完大结局后，有些网友表示《山海情》作为剧名确实更胜一筹。
《闽宁镇》这个名字只是简单的概括，不包含感情，而《山海情》却让这部剧增添了感情的成分。
福建和宁夏，就像山与海的深情，海环绕山，山立于海。通过闽宁镇的建设，早就成了一家人。
唯有山海互助，才能把昔日的干沙滩，变成真正的金沙滩。
