Despereaux read the story of a princess and a knight who serves and honors her. Beneath the castle there was a dungeon and in the dungeon there lived large mean rats. Despereaux was destined to meet those rats. Despereaux's brothers and sisters didn't do their task of educating him to be a normal mouse. So Despereaux was free to go around the castle. He watched the light through the stained windows and went to the library to read the story of princess and the knight over and over. And he finally found the sound of the sweet honey.? The sound was music. It was the king playing guitar and singing songs for his daughter. Despereaux was so indulged in the music that he couldn't help sticking himself through the hole in the wall to listen to the music better. Though he was not like a normal mouse, he knew that he should prevent himself from appearing in front of the humans. But the music was so attractive to him that he revealed himself to the sharp-eyed Princess Pea.
