As a famous saying goes, “A disciple isn't necessarily inferior to his teacher”. Every time I came across a student who performed better than me in some aspect, I would be convinced of its validity. Yes, some students really motivated me a lot. I was inspired by their talents and courage, thus longing to be better myself.
No.1 Mr. Ma
Every time I need a student to read the text, he was recommended by all his classmates. And after he finished reading, a big applause would go to him from the whole class. He has an authentic London tongue, for which we all envied him.
I was inspired indeed to keep on listening to BBC News every day to practise and improve my oral English.
No.2 Miss Zhang
Her Growth Book impressed me a lot by its being coherent and spontaneous. Compared with the other students, she really did a perfect job on this, setting down what she saw and what she thought in such beautiful words. I appreciate her ideas on daily life as well as her neat characters.
I was motivated to write more carefully and think about things with a mind more peaceful.
NO.3 Mr. Niu
A unit which concerns a play was to be learned this term. Before learning it, Mr. Niu asked me to arrange for the students to act out the play. But I was afraid it would cost too much time, so I didn't permit him to do so.
However, one day after we had finished the unit, he was chosen as the one to give a presentation before the class. He gave me a surprise by leading his small group of four to act out the play mentioned.
I was touched by his courage and talents. And he demonstrated to us all that once we have a dream, whether big or small, just get prepared and catch every opportunity to achieve it.
No.4 Miss Liu
While most students complain about what to write and how to write in their Growth Book, she has begun setting down the most meaningful incident in a week completely in English. In turn, I encouraged her by communicating with her in English. She wins my heart as the first student in my experience that has stuck to such a writing exercise.
I was amazed to find how strong the interest she showed and what great strength she has in English. So thanks to her , I have also found more courage to write this article in English.
No.5 Miss Zhang
Looking through her English notebook once by chance, I was fascinated by her beautiful characters and the neat lay-out of the book. The further I read it, the more attracted I was by its content, which contains nearly all the important language points taught by her former teacher. It felt as if I was listening to that teacher giving live lessons. How amazing! Although there were some mistakes in it, they didn't stop it from being the most wonderful notebook I've ever seen.
A notebook is better than a good memory. A notebook like hers is worth more appreciation and praise. Being organized and neat is what I've learned from her written work.
The large number of students in one class makes it impossible for a teacher to pay his or her attention to each student. It's a tragic problem confronting our educational system.
However, it's under such circumstances that we educators ought to feel more obliged to discover the light in teenagers, no matter how dim it is. I believe it's the very light that sparkles and even splendors come from.
