Good evening! I know you are busy preparing for your exam week, but as your well-being counsellor, I want to give a short speech about your mental health. It will only take you no more than 5 minutes, so please pay awareness. Is that OK? Thank you.
First of all, I would like to note that there is no shame in caring for your mental health. I know that some may feel weak to seek help so they would take the pain on their own instead, but mental care is as familiar as physical care, and being not aware of keeping a good balance between study and health could lead to severe illness. Therefore, please go to someone that you trust for help if you feel overwhelmed. Tell them that you are in pain and share your problems, and you will obtain suitable comforts as well as suggestions. Remember that it does not mean you are soft, but you love yourself. We should also be friendly, respectful, and patient with others, especially those struggling, and at least not show discrimination, as you do not blame someone for them having caught a cold.
Please pay attention to your well-being. Self-compassion is the most important part of keeping you mentally healthy since you must be the one who knows yourself best. You will know if you are being depressed, you will know if you need to be cared for, and you will know what can make yourself better. To compass yourself, you can pay more attention to your state of mind. For instance, if you are feeling anxious, you can try recording your feelings, checking the source that affects them most, and trying to work out the problems. Thus, you may feel better by taking action to unravel the factors that disappoint you. You will suppose that you are making things get better, and be less upset. You may also meditate and forget the time flow to get unburdened from pressure.
In addition, I want to mention the impact that social media may have on your mental health. They may seem irregulated, but the Internet does subtly affect mental health. The way that users receive information is fast, which makes them restless; besides, people love to share their happy moments online, and surfing other people's achievements could make us compare ourselves to the best facet that others have shown, and result in being tortured by anxiety and self-disappointment. To avoid the impacts that social media may have on us, we should keep a rational attitude toward the output of the Internet, and we could reduce our screen time as well. Additionally, that would be good for our eyes.
Last but not least, I hope to share some coping skills that you can use when feeling down. First, pay attention to something else that can keep you concentrated, like a book or a movie. After some time, when you look back on what disturbed you, you may find it less overwhelming. Second, do some exercises, or just have a walk under the sunlight. You can emit some beneficial chemicals and feel better through the aforementioned activities. Last, have enough sleep and a healthy diet. By having a balanced life, your brain cells may grow faster and have a higher chance of survival, which is good for your mood. Hence, please remember to take sufficient rest besides working hard.
Alright, these are all that I want to inform you. Please take good care of yourselves, and good luck in the exams!
